IT’S a simple equation for The New Saints’ boss Craig Harrison this evening - just win the game.
The Saints trail Hungarian giants Ferencváros 5-0 at the midway point of their Champions League second qualifying round tie ahead of tonight’s second leg at Park Hall.
Adama Traoré grabbed a hat-trick in the opening encounter last week, while he was joined on the scoresheet by Kristoffer Zachariassen and Marquinhos.
“We’ve got to approach the second leg like the first one hasn’t happened,” Harrison told BBC Shropshire.
“We want to try and win that game. We’ve got a really good record at Park Hall. We want to try and win that game.
“It’s obviously going to be huge to overturn the actual result and to get through, but that doesn’t stop us from wanting to win the game on the night, because it puts us in a different place again.
“If we can come and certainly try and win the game, not only for coefficiency points but for the confidence moving into the next round, into the next competition.”
Even if the Saints lose their tie with Ferencváros, their European adventure won’t be over.
They will go into the third qualifying round of the Europa League, facing either APOEL FC (Cyprus) or FC Petrocub (Moldova).
