BRYMBO kept their Premier Division title bid on track with 96-run home victory over Gwersyllt Park.

They remain 32 points behind front-runners Mochdre, who showed no mercy on bottom club Llandudno in a nine-wicket win, where Marcus Mangiameli produced a five-wicket haul.

Third-placed Brymbo’s star man was Jason Underwood who blasted five sixes and just as many fours in a brilliant 114 as Brymbo reached 198 for eight. Dan Jones took 3-32 and Neil Pearson 3-40 for Park, who were then bundled out for 102 in 27.1 overs.

Sam Aplin did most of the damage with 5-25 and was backed up by skipper Dan Parry and Joe Norman, who took two wickets apiece.

Former Brymbo player Jake James (33) top scored for Gwersyllt, who remain in the bottom three - 27 points clear of Gresford, who were second best at Menai Bridge.

The Anglesey hosts blasted 359 for three with captain Dion Holden making hay with 149 as he and fellow opener Ashley Wood (92) put on 227 for the first wicket.

Gresford opener Chris Ellwood hit 63 in the visitors’ reply of 149.

Northop, who head to Mochdre in a top two clash next Saturday, remain in second spot despite suffering a 32-run defeat at home to Denbigh, who opened up with 246 for seven.

James Du Toit top scored with 73 while Ben Beaver bettered that with 75 as Northop were dismissed for 214, Sam Lewis landing 5-44.

Bangor beat St Asaph by 34 runs after posting 233 for eight.

Captain Rob Marshall top scoring with 76 before Owen Reilly and Franco Kasner, who also hit an unbeaten 58, took four wickets apiece.

Northop Hall’s bowlers were once more integral to a winning Liverpool Competition weekend.

Seven days after dismissing Caldy for just 53, Hall’s bowling unit skittled Division Two hosts Wavertree for 65.

Liam Evans Ford (5-25) and Nathan Roett (4-31) were impressive for Hall, who responded with 69 for six.

In the Shropshire League, Chirk suffered an eight-wicket Division One loss to Bomere Heath.

Oliver Gough (40) was the leading scorers as Chirk were all out for 160, losing their last five wickets for just two runs. Matt Jones Jnr (4-18) was the leading bowler for Bomere Heath, who replied with 165 for two (Ryan Lockley 89 not out).
