DEFENDING champions Holywell Town hit Prestatyn Town for six to open their new league campaign in style.

However, Johnny Haseldin’s charges aren’t the early leaders of the season following on from what was a goal-den opening weekend.

Airbus and Flint Mountain are the two clubs leading the way following on from magnificent 7-0 successes.

The Wingmakers, who finished in third place last season, thrashed Denbigh Town and Ardal North West League champions Mountain got the better of Ruthin Town.

Airbus started the game on the front foot and Danny Warren opened the scoring in the ninth minute.

Two apiece from Warren and James Davies meant that the hosts were four-up by the interval.

Making it a night to remember, Davies added a second half hat-trick to finish with four goals, while substitute Sam Baker grabbed the seventh in stoppage time.

Airbus assistant boss Rick Chapman told the club’s website: “Really pleased with the start to the campaign. We were in control from start to finish, credit to the players who put on a real display.”

It was a dream start to life in the second tier for Aden Shannon’s Flint Mountain.

Mike Hayes’ hat-trick led the way as Mountain open their Cymru North campaign in style

Flint had the points in the bag by half-time after they built-up a five-goal advantage.

Jack Parry’s looping header had the hosts in front and Rob Hughes drilled home an effort from 25 yards to quickly double the advantage.

Jack Sconce also struck from distance and two efforts from Hayes had Flint Mountain well in control by the time the half-time whistle was sounded.

Hayes completed his hat-trick with 10 minutes remaining and substitute Sam Molyneux concluded the scoring.

Holywell are also up-and-running in style courtesy of their big win at home to Prestatyn.

Jamie Breese and Jake Roberts ensured the Wellmen were in control by the midway point.

Striker Breese went on to complete his hat-trick in the second period, while other goals were supplied by Morgan Murray and Danny Andrews.

There’s also been a winning start for Mold Alex, who impressively got the better of Llandudno 3-1.

Owen Cordiner and Emmanuel Lawal had Mold in the box seat midway through the first half, but Llandudno pulled one back via Mark Cadwallader shortly before half-time.

Cordiner’s second goal in second half stoppage time confirmed Alex’s triumph.

Elsewhere, Caersws got the better of hosts Guilsfield 2-1 thanks to strikes from Rhys Hesden and former Chirk player Max McLaughlin.
