WREXHAM are now familiar faces over in America - and boss Phil Parkinson says the Reds may look to bolster their ranks with players from across the Atlantic.
Parkinson led Wrexham to an undefeated tour in the United States and Canada, culminating in a 4-1 triumph over Vancouver Whitecaps.
Whitecaps compete in the MLS and asked if the club would look at the possibility of scouting players from the North American league, Parkinson said: “Yes, definitely. If the right player became available, we wouldn’t hesitate because I think it would be great for the club, you know, with the profile over here.
“But, obviously, it’s got to be the player who can make a difference for us and we wouldn’t just bring someone in because of they’re from Canada or the US.
“It’s got to be the right player to fit in with the team.
“But, yeah, I think it would be great and all the players have seen, or saw, another MLS game live and there’s a lot of good, technical ability over here.
“There’s a lot of players who probably can transition into the EFL.”
Wrexham are preparing for their first season in League One in almost two decades and they were clinical in their win over Vancouver, which came in front of a crowd of almost 35,000 at BC Place.
Goals from Seb Revan, James McClean, Elliot Lee and Jordan Davies saw Wrexham through to a comfortable victory.
This followed on from draws against Premier League clubs AFC Bournemouth and Chelsea earlier in the tour.
The new season will kick-off with a home clash against Wycombe Wanderers on August 10 and Wrexham will continue their pre-season preparations at The STōK Racecourse against Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
Parkinson told the club’s YouTube channel: “There’s obviously an important game Saturday. We’ll have either an in-house game on the Tuesday for the ones who don’t play Saturday, so by the time we get to the first league game, we’ve gone up another level.
“Just got to get back and get rid of the jet lag over the first few days, which we’ll do.
“Everyone’s going to have a few days off to recover from that and we’ll come back in later in the week ready to go again.”
