WHAT an end to the week it's turned out to be for Chester!
The Blues lost out 3-1 in their home friendly with a Manchester United XI, on the same day it was announced that striker Kurt Willoughby is to return to the Deva Stadium on a season-long loan from Oldham Athletic.
The 27-year-old is back for a second spell at Chester, having scored 27 goals in 52 appearances when the Blues finished third during the 2022-23 National League North campaign.
Willoughby made 17 appearances for Oldham last season and he ended the campaign on loan at Scottish Championship Ayr United.
Manager Calum McIntyre told the club's website: “I’m sure I speak for everyone at Chester Football Club when I say I am delighted to see Kurt back at the club.
“His record during his time with us was formidable and he has a terrific relationship with our fans. We are really pleased to have got this done.
“It is something we have looked to do for some time but ultimately it has only come to fruition over the last few days. We have spoke at length about being patient with our really targeted recruitment and this is the best example of that."
Chester will host Altrincham on Saturday.
