JOHNNY HASELDIN is confident his Holywell Town side can win in a variety of ways as they begin the defence of their Cymru North title at home to Prestatyn Town tomorrow.

The Wellmen pipped Flint and Airbus to win an epic title chase last time out and opposition teams will look to throw the champions off their stride.

Holywell opened their season with a last-gasp 1-0 win over stubborn Caersws in the Welsh League Cup and Haseldin said: “We have spoke about it and we’ve had a few tests like that in pre-season.

“We’ve got to be a bit more patient with the ball if teams are going to play like that.

“We have spoke about it. We have got to find ways to win.

“We feel like we can play. We proved that last season. We can play through and play over, and there’s match-winners in there.

“We want to play certain ways, but we can change and play other ways if we need to.”

Mike Pearson, Danny Sullivan and Shaun Pearson could all feature in the Wellmen ranks.

Buckley Town boss Asa Hamilton is delighted with how things have panned out ahead of the big kick-off.

Following a 5-1 Welsh League Cup win over Prestatyn, Buckley open their league campaign at home to Penrhyncoch this evening.

“My main thing was keeping all my lads there,” said Hamilton. “They put such a shift in and they worked so hard last year.

“They believe in the project and believe in what we’re working towards. I am over the moon I have kept most of my lads.

“The main thing was keeping all my players and adding quality in the right areas.”

A fine upturn in results meant Buckley ended last season on a high to comfortably preserve their Cymru North status.

“We finished the season so strong and I think, from January, we would have been in fourth place in the league,” added Hamilton.
