IT’S turning out to be a terrific Liverpool Competition season for Northop Hall.
They are fourth in Division Two ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Wavertree.
Hall skipper Ben Slater said: “I think if you look where we finished last year, it’s a massive improvement.
“Every team is in the top-four in their respective leagues.
“It’s obviously great for us. Ideally, we want to be promoted, but we have to take it one game at a time.”
Northop Hall seconds have home advantage tomorrow against Spring View seconds.
Chirk skipper Luke Gardner says the jury is still out on the new pink ball being used in the Shropshire League.
Last week’s match with Wroxeter & Uppington had to be abandoned and Chirk will hope the Division One match-up at home to Bomere Heath goes the distance.
“I think, based on what we saw on the weekend, the pink ball was not as expected,” said Gardner.
“It did what we expected, but there was a little bit there. Time will tell if it was overcast conditions.
“I think the way it’s going, it will be very much use the powerplays well.
“You almost want to play defensively, but you don’t want to make it easy to score runs.”
Wynn Jones will come into the Chirk side and all-rounder Andrew Swarbrick is unavailable.
Chirk seconds will travel to Chelmarsh in Division Seven tomorrow.
