CHRIS GRUBE is getting ready to compete at his third Olympics.

Chester-born Grube and Vita Heathcote will be intent on extending a proud tradition after being confirmed as the members of the British sailing team at the Olympics.

Heathcote and Grube will compete in the 470 class, which is making its debut as a mixed event having recently been the domain of three-time Olympic medallist Hannah Mills.

Grube, 39, will make his third appearance at the Games having previously competed in both 2016 and 2020 alongside Luke Patience.

Heathcote will be the youngest sailor in the British team at the age of 22.

Former King’s School student Harry Brightmore is chasing his Olympic dream.

He has joined Team GB’s Olympic rowing squad and is set to compete as cox in the men’s eight.

Known for his success in the water, Brightmore notched double victories at both European and World Championships and now has his sights set on an Olympic medal.

Besides sporting his old King’s hat during GB training, Brightmore even named his dog ‘Chester’, a nod to his hometown.

When news broke of his Olympic selection, Brightmore said: “It’s a childhood dream to be selected for the Olympics and that dream started 16 years ago at King’s.

“There are lessons I learned there that I will be taking with me to Paris.”
