THERE’S a cracking match in the North East Wales League’s Premier Division this evening.

Queensway will be the setting as FC Queen’s Park host newly-promoted FC Plas Madoc.

FC Queen’s Park manager Mally Wareham said: “The Park are looking forward to kicking off the new league campaign.

“The club will be pushing for the title this season and chasing promotion to tier three.”

Saltney Town, relegated from the Ardal North West League, kick off a new era at home to Mynydd Isa while Hawarden Rangers - the other team who came down - travel to Greenfield.

“Pre-season has been very positive both in performance and results,” said Greenfield manager Scott Beck.

“We have made new signings - Jack Pennington from Holywell Town is a massive signing for us.

“Dylan Tyrrell and Callum Prichard have joined from Caerwys and Joe Pennington has re-signed after a spell out of the game while club captain Danny Calvert has returned after missing 16 months out due to an ACL reconstruction.”

Rhostyllen are at home to Castell Alun with boss Dan Richards adding Tom Williams (Llay Welfare), Matt Onissiphorou (Plas Madoc) and Owain Price (Brickfield Rangers) to his ranks.

“We’re looking forward to the season ahead,” said Richards. “The league will be extremely tough with a lot of teams strengthening.

“We’ll worry about ourselves and our own performances and see where that takes us.”

Coedpoeth United welcome Ruabon Rovers, who escaped relegation to the Championship despite finishing bottom last season.

Two new teams kick off their Championship campaigns this evening.

Broughton United have home advantage over Aston Park Rangers and Cei Connah go to Holywell United.

Brymbo will be favourites to beat neighbours Skippy, Sychdyn United host Rhydymwyn and Overton Recreational make the short trip to Johnstown.
