THE football season in Wales kicked off at the weekend with the Welsh League Cup and now it’s time for the leagues to kick into action.

The North East Wales League opens up with two games tonight.

Penyffordd Lions kept last season’s Premier Division champions Corwen waiting to seal their crown and picked up two cup trophies in a terrific season for Stuart Tunnicliffe’s team. Their campaign kicks off at Lex XI where both sides will be looking to pick up wins ahead of their weekend Welsh Cup clashes against Corwen and Rhuddlan Town respectively.

There’s also one game in the Championship this evening and it’s also in Wrexham.

Acton, who lifted The Two Counties Cup last season, begin their season at Bellevue.
