CRAIG HARRISON is looking forward to a “huge” test as The New Saints continue their European adventure this evening.

The Cymru Premier League champions, who defeated FK Dečić in the opening stage, now tackle Hungarian giants Ferencváros in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.

The Saints are on their travels first, with the opening leg taking place at the Groupama Aréna and it’s one that boss Harrison is looking forward to.

Harrison, whose side drew 1-1 against Robbie Savage’s Macclesfield in Saturday’s friendly, told TNS TV: “It’s huge, brilliant, fantastic. It’s a bit of a reward, isn’t it, for the hard work that’s been put in up to now.

“Obviously, we know it’s going to be a really tough game away first. They’re a very good team.

“Historically, I think people our age or older will understand that Hungary were a bit of a power back in the day, you know, with some fantastic players and fantastic national team, some representing Hungary in the European Cup.

“So, they’ve got a huge history of European football. So, we’ll be looking forward to going out there and testing ourselves against the best.”

The Saints, drawn in the ‘champions path’, will face Andorra’s Santa Coloma or Denmark’s Midtjylland in the third qualifying round if they overcome Ferencváros.

League of Ireland champions Shamrock Rovers, who face Sparta Prague in the second qualifying round, will play Romania’s FCSB or Maccabi Tel-Aviv if they progress.

Rangers will face Dynamo Kyiv or Partizan Belgrade as Philippe Clement’s side will launch their campaign in the away leg on August 6-7.
