IT’S fair to say that Jamie Breese has impeccable timing!

The striker popped up with a timely winner as defending Cymru North champions began their season in victorious fashion.

Breese (pictured), a key figure in helping the Wellmen to the title last season, grabbed a 93rd minute goal as Johnny Haseldin’s side won 1-0 at Caersws in the first round of the Welsh League Cup.

Jake Roberts, a summer acquisition from Mold Alex, supplied a fine ball and Breese beat the advancing keeper to slot into the net.

Airbus opened their campaign with a 3-2 home win over Flintshire rivals Mold Alex.

It wasn’t the first half Airbus would have hoped for.

They arrived at the interval level at 1-1, but they had already been reduced to 10 men.

Joe Palmer was sent off for a second bookable offence when Mold were 1-0 to the good, courtesy of Craig Rodgers’ 21st minute goal.

The Wingmakers levelled right on the stroke of half-time with a fine volley from ex-Mold striker Danny Warren.

Kaiden Cooke and Oli Lanceley added second half strikes as Mark Allen’s side made sure of their progress.

Rodgers scored his second for the visitors late on to set up a grandstand finish.

Ruthin Town are also through after they pipped Bangor 1876 2-1 at Memorial Park Fields.

Josh Evans and Jack Edwards were on target for Dave Evans’ side, with Corrig McGonigle netting Bangor’s consolation in stoppage time.

Adam Stephens netted twice as Llandudno got the better of Newport County 3-0 and this was also the margin of victory for Guilsfield at Penrhyncoch. Joe Haycock, Chris Cathrall and James Smallwood netted in the first half.

Cody Twose grabbed a brace as Cardiff City triumphed 3-1 at Afan Lido.
