GEORGE DOBSON has only been with his team-mates for a few weeks but he can already see why Wrexham have enjoyed so much success over the last couple of years.
The midfielder has arrived at The Racecourse from Charlton Athletic where he spent the last three seasons.
Reunited with Reds' boss Phil Parkinson who he played under at Sunderland, Dobson has previously played with a number of players including Elliot Lee and Eoghan O'Connell.
The pre-season tour to North America has enabled Dobson to settle into life with his new club and he says the way the players battle for each other on the pitch is the reason why Wrexham secured back-to-back promotions for the first time in the club's history.
"It makes it so much easier," Dobson told the club's YouTube channel about how the tour has helped him fit in at Wrexham.
"I know a few of the boys anyway which helps initially but it is genuinely a great group of lads who you can tell thrive for each other on the pitch, and leave everything out there.
"That shows why the club and the whole team has done so well in the last couple of years.
"That will stand us in good stead and hopefully we can continue that when the season starts."
Wrexham kicked-off the three-game tour with a 1-1 draw against Premier League side AFC Bournemouth in searing temperatures at a sold-out Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, California, on Saturday.
An own goal put the Reds ahead just before the break and although Bournemouth levelled early in the second half, Dobson says Parkinson's men deserve credit for the way they played.
"It was a real tough test playing against Premier League opposition in real hot heat but I thought especially first half, our defensive discipline was really good and we limited them to I don't think any chances and we got the goal," added Dobson.
"We blew up a little bit in the last 10 minutes or so but that is to be expected with not having much of the ball but it was a really good start to the tour and a good performance on the whole.
"The support was amazing. It's a completely different experience to anything that I've been a part of and we really enjoyed it.
"It is great to be able to come out here and play in front of amazing support; having 20,000 or whatever it was here was incredible.
"We are very grateful for the support and it is only going to help us during the season."
