EOGHAN O'CONNELL believes midfielder George Dobson will become a huge hit at The Racecourse and a player Wrexham supporters will grow to love.

Dobson has joined the Reds after spending the last three seasons with Charlton Athletic where centre-back O'Connell plied his trade before signing for the Reds in January 2023.

The duo previously spend time together on loan at Walsall and O'Connell expects Dobson to become a fans' favourite at Wrexham who are preparing for the new League One campaign with a three-game tour to North America.

"I have played with George twice because we were both on loan at Walsall in 2017," said O'Connell.

"We have known each other years and kept in touch, and then we played together again at Charlton.

"When he rang me and said it looked like he was coming to Wrexham, I was delighted and obviously he knows a few of the other lads like Elliot Lee and he has worked with the gaffer before at Sunderland so he know what he is all about.

"George will be a brilliant addition both on and off the pitch.

"I think he is a player that the fans will grow to love just from the with the way he is and the way he plays on the pitch.

"It is a a superb signing and to get one of the best midfielders in the league like that is great for us and we are delighted to have him."

O'Connell and Dobson both started Saturday's 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth in the opening friendly on the tour at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara.

Wrexham are still in California and will have Premier League opponents once again in the second game when they face Chelsea in Santa Clara tomorrow before heading to Canada for the first time to face Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on Saturday.
