OLLY DAVIES isn’t one for taking a backward step when he’s on the field with the North Wales Crusaders.
Davies has been with the Colwyn Bay-based outfit for the past month on loan from Championship Halifax Panthers and he has quickly become a real favourite in Carl Forster’s side, while Cru have confirmed his permanent signing for the 2025 season.
He was a part of the Cru side that lost out 32-6 at League One title-chasers Oldham on Sunday and Davies told CruCast: “I’ve played the game long enough now to understand whatever game you’re playing, whenever you take to the field, you can’t take any backward step in anything you do.
“Whether it’s attack or defence, so 100 miles an hour as long as I possibly can.
“Playing back row, you usually play a full 80 minutes as well. So, sometimes over the years you’ve got to learn when to put your foot on the gas and when not to.
“But, I feed a lot off the lads that are in the team already.
“They’re such a tight-knit group, to be fair. I’ve come into such a good bunch of lads and, you know, we just want to win and they’ll do anything to win.”
Crusaders face Hunslet at home on Sunday and coach Forster (pictured above) admits that the games are running out for his side to seal a play-off place.
