WHILE Rob Massam is back playing league, he didn’t turn his back completely on rugby after ending his spell with North Wales Crusaders.
Ex-Wales international Massam retired at the end of last season, however he has now returned to the ranks of the North Wales Crusaders as Carl Forster’s side pushes to secure a spot in the end-of-season League One play-offs.
While he has been away from the 13-player sport, Massam was able to show what he can do for Wrexham’s rugby union side.
Back in Division One North of the Welsh leagues after securing promotion, Wrexham finished up in seventh position.
Massam told CruCast: “I played two games or three games for Wrexham union as well.
“The physicality’s different. It’s a different level, isn’t it?
“That’s what you get as a professional standard, but, I mean, they run great shapes.
“Very much run rugby league shape. They use that sort of ethos and just a good bunch of lads.
“Just a different experience and I enjoyed it. I had a good few games with them.
“Nice bunch of lads and, again, I just love playing and love scoring tries and getting my hands on the ball.”
