CONNAH’S QUAY NOMADS had a surprise when they landed back in a much-cooler Manchester last week - and boss Neil Gibson hopes European opponents NK Bravo expect the same culture shock when they arrive in the United Kingdom.

The Slovenians, who face Nomads in tomorrow night’s Europa Conference first round second leg clash at Bangor’s Nantporth Stadium, are 1-0 down after Ben Maher’s late winner in Ljubljana last Thursday.

That game was played in 30 degree temperatures and Gibson, who revealed players lost six-to-eight pounds in bodyweight during the game, said: “When we arrived back in Manchester on Friday, it was the first time we hadn’t sweated for three days.

“It was a bit cold coming home and I’m sure that’s how Bravo will feel when they touch down.”

Gibson (pictured above) has no injury worries going into tomorrow’s tie as Nomads hope to secure a second tie against Bosnians Zrinjski Mostar.

“We’re at full strength; we’ll train this week and come up with a gameplan to try and get through to the second round,” said Gibson.

“It will be tough and we know we’ll need to score at Bangor because they’ll come and give it a real go.

“They’ve got some good players but we more than matched them.”
