PHIL PARKINSON still has nightmares about Wrexham’s last game in America.
The Reds have embarked on a pre-season tour to North America where they will play three friendlies, starting with tomorrow’s clash with AFC Bournemouth in Santa Barbara.
Last year’s trip across the pond concluded with a match against Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park, which finished in a 1-1 draw after thunderstorms forced a two-and-a-half-hour delay.
Despite the horrendous weather, Parkinson enjoyed the American experience and he is pleased Wrexham are on another tour.
“Everybody is really looking forward to the America tour,” said the Reds’ boss.
“I don’ think you can not with the places we are going to visit and the ladies team are coming with us this year which is great for them.
“We had an amazing experience last year, it was incredible to be part of something like that and it is great for us being out there again.
“Last year, certain things like the weather in Philadelphia - the thunderstorms - were out of our control.
“You have nightmares about that night, it was a very strange set of circumstances and the fact we were flying back the next morning but we couldn’t control that.
“It was still an amazing experience for us.
“Everyone knows Wrexham are very popular in the USA with the documentary and it was fantastic to go to different areas and see the popularity of the club.
"The way the club was received over in America was incredible."
