JORDAN DAVIES knows a punishing training schedule means it will be tough going on the pre-season tour to North America but the midfielder says the fantastic facilities will make it more bearable.

Phil Parkinson's men play two matches in the USA - against AFC Bournemouth in Santa Barbara on Saturday and Chelsea in Santa Clara next Wednesday - before heading to Canada for the first time to face Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on Saturday July 27.

As well as those friendlies, the players will continue to be put through their paces in a series of training sessions as Wrexham continue building fitness levels ahead of the new League One campaign which kicks-off at home to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday August 10.

But Davies, who hails from Coedpoeth, knows there could be worse places to be then it comes to putting in the hard yards.

"Two sessions a day and the facilities probably make those sessions a little bit easier when it gets tough because the facilities are brilliant," said the 25-year-old, who scored twice in Saturday's 5-1 opening pre-season win at Hanley Town.

"Chappell Hill University was one of the highlights of the trip last year, I thought it was a special place.

"It is UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) this time around so it will be a similar experience.

"It is brilliant and it probably gives you that five per cent more - it is better than running around a cow field I suppose!

"You are over in LA, working hard and enjoying your job which is what it is about."

Wrexham have become global sensations since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed their takeover at The Racecourse in February 2021.

Davies was amazed how popular the Reds have become in America after heading over the pond in pre-season last year.

"It is scary," he added.

"You have still got to pinch yourself sometimes but it is a great experience and I am really looking forward to it.

"It is really good for the club and the exposure over in America.

"It is one of the highlights of the season that the lads look forward so we are buzzing to get over there.

"It is just taking it all in and living in the moment.

"You are over in LA representing Wrexham in front of 20,000 fans which is really good."
