SUPER Sherwood ended Brymbo’s hopes of reaching the last-four of the Welsh Cup.
Brymbo, semi-finalists in last year’s competition, departed at the quarter-final stage this time around following an eight-wicket defeat away to St Fagans.
Ollie Sherwood was the star for the hosts as he picked up a stunning seven for 19 as Brymbo were dismissed for just 58.
Jason Underwood (pictured) was the visitors’ leading batsman with his unbeaten knock of 28.
St Fagans responded with 59 for two to make sure of their progress. Skipper Dan Parry and Joe Norman claimed a wicket apiece for Brymbo.
Brymbo, who have been concentrating on the North Wales T20 competition this month, will return to 50-over action with Saturday’s home Premier Division meeting against Bangor.
North Wales involvement in the Welsh Cup is at an end as Llandudno suffered a 126-run defeat in their home meeting with Newport.
Elsewhere, Pontarddulais defeated Neath by 100 runs and Ammanford lost out by four wickets in their quarter-final at Pentyrch.
