MARCHWIEL AND WREXHAM remain top of Division Two with a 30-point lead following a nine-wicket home win against Pontblyddyn seconds.

It was a good job that David Brilley turned up for Pont as he hit 44 runs in the visitors’ score of 75 all out, Matt Lawrenson taking 3-9.

Marchwiel strolled to victory on 76 for one thanks to Sam Shoemark (35no) and Sam Heard Edwards (38no).

Second-placed Mochdre seconds are still Marchwiel’s nearest challengers after beating Carmel & District by 10 wickets.

Nick Hughes top scored with 21 as Carmel were dismissed for 80 and Mochdre hit 82 without loss to clinch an easy victory.

Llay in third maintained their challenge with a 59-run success over Bangor seconds after making 162.

Joe Howell led the way with 46 for Llay who then sent Bangor packing for 103, Tom Parry finishing with 5-13.

Second bottom Gresford seconds were dismissed for 61 and lost by 10 wickets against Corwen and Llanrwst (62 for three) won by seven wickets against Menai Bridge seconds (61).

Gwersyllt Park seconds put a dent in Ruthin’s title challenge by defeating the Division Three leaders by 25 runs.

Shashika Meistry cracked 71 but he had no support as Gwersyllt were all out for 116, Osian Roberts grabbing 4-24.

It proved to be enough as Ruthin were stopped on 91 despite Duncan Roberts’ 26, Jake James taking 3-15.

Pwllheli in second overcame Mold seconds by three wickets.

Mold (Grufudd Edwards 34, Ben Cowper 3-20) were dismissed for 109 and Pwllheli won with 110 for seven (Adam Williams 35, Craig Roberts 4-12).

Hawarden Park seconds, in third, lost by seven wickets against Denbigh seconds after hitting 106 for seven (Antonio Carrino 17, Ranija Abeysinghe 3-10).

Denbigh were never in trouble and reached 109 for three to seal success (Gerallt Lyall 39no).

Fourth-placed Buckley seconds overcame Conwy seconds by 18 runs.

Johnny Hewitt made 41 in Buckley’s 168 for seven and Conwy fell short on 150 for six despite Jawad Afzal’s 73 as Tom Pool and Samuel Jones took two wickets apiece.

In a low-scoring encounter, Halkyn seconds only mustered 31 against Caernarfon as no-one got into double figures. Llyr Erddyn Davies (5-6) starred for Caernarfon who clinched an easy win with 32 for one.

Connah’s Quay seconds were 46 for six when their game at Bethesda seconds was abandoned.

Division Four leaders Marchwiel and Wrexham seconds triumphed by nine wickets against Abergele who made 102 for seven, Mike Lee 3-18.

Michael Forgrave (50no) and Nick Husbands (34) led Marchwiel to 103 for one.

Second-placed Bersham seconds (Aneesh Pattali 33, Thushardath Ep 4-17) smashed 83 for two to secure an easy win against Llanrwst who were all out for 78

Ruthin seconds made 115 for nine (Ieuan Wynne Lewis 55, Harry Nash 4-14) and then dismissed Carmel seconds for 15 to seal a 100-run success, and Hawarden Park thirds (74 for one) won by nine wickets at Corwen seconds (72).

Brymbo thirds are up to top spot in the Sunday East League after beating Hawarden Park fourths by eight wickets.

Jack Andrew, Trinesh Fernando and Harri Davies all took two wickets as Park posted 69 for nine. An unbeaten 38 from Chris McCartney saw Brymbo home to 73 for two.

Chirk seconds are 22 points clear at the top of Shropshire League’s Division Seven.

Connor Bailey (58), Dale Randall (51) and Chris Hughes (37) all batted well as the leaders posted 235 for eight.

Hughes and Harry Lunt then landed three wickets each to bowl out Quayside for 137.

Northop Hall couldn’t get the final wicket as St Helens Town hung on at 90 for nine in their Liverpool Competition Second XI Division Two clash.

Renit Adke took 5-30 and he also top scored with 47 in Hall’s 157 for nine.
