PAUL MULLIN is the only Wrexham player who won't be heading to North America on the club's pre-season tour.
For the second year in a row, Phil Parkinson's first-team squad are off to USA where the Reds will play two games against AFC Bournemouth in Santa Barbara this Saturday and Chelsea in Santa Clara on Wednesday July 24, before moving on to Canada for the first time to face Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on Saturday July 27.
Wrexham kicked-off their pre-season programme with a 5-1 win over Hanley Town on Saturday but a number of players who have been carrying knocks, including new signing Lewis Brunt, centre-back Tom O'Connor and striker Steven Fletcher, weren't risked at Potteries Park.
However, they will all be on the plane today along with wing-back Jacob Mendy who has had an operation to mend a hamstring and will miss the start of the League One campaign which starts with a home game against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday August 10.
But Mullin, a three-time, back-to-back top scorer and Player of the Season, underwent spinal surgery in the middle of June to correct a long-term lower-back and hamstring issue, meaning the 29-year-old will be absent for the Wrex Coast Tour and is also set to miss the first few weeks of league action.
Reds' boss Phil Parkinson said: "A few players weren't at Hanley on Saturday for a variety of reason but no-one is serious enough not to travel to America, apart from Mulls.
"We are taking everyone with us, a strong squad, because the medical team are all coming with us.
"Mulls can't fly with his back so he will be staying here.
"He will probably have a bit of time away with his family and get ready for when we come back, and his rehab will really kick-in then."
Parkinson, who has led Wrexham to back-to-back promotions for the first time in the club's history, is happy with how things have gone since Wrexham returned for pre-season training a fortnight ago and can't wait to embark on the North America tour.
"We are really looking forward to it," added the Reds' boss.
"I can't wait to get back over there, we had an amazing time last year
"I have been pleased with the first couple of weeks and the way they've gone."
