BRYMBO captain Dan Parry is backing his boys to battle against adversity in what promises to be a massive and frantic weekend for the North Wales side.

They head south on Sunday to face competition favourites St Fagans in the quarter-finals of the Welsh Cup but tomorrow’s prelude to that is two away ties in the North Wales T20 Cup.

Brymbo head to Anglesey to play Menai Bridge at 11am and then cross the Menai Straits to face second-placed Bangor in a 4pm start.

“We’ll be finished about 7.30pm and then we’re going to drive all the way down south so the lads can get some kip before Sunday’s Welsh Cup tie,” said Parry.

“It’s going to be hectic but the lads will be up for the challenge. We’re used to being drawn away in the Welsh Cup - we had two trips down south when we reached the semi-finals last year.

“We’ve got a couple of players out but we have a strong squad and the players who come in are good players.”

Brymbo have won all three games in the T20 competition and Parry added: “If we win both, that will secure top spot and that will put us through to the next stage.”

As for Sunday’s challenge at St Fagans, Parry said: “They are top of their league and will be favourites but we’ll give it our best.”

Parry praised the form of young Wales all-rounder Sam Aplin.

He said: “Sam’s got a couple of half centuries since he’s come into the side; George Denis has the most dismissals for a keeper in the league and bowler Adam De Rycke has impressed.

“We’ve also got Jack Williams back. He’d been playing for Newport while in University in Cardiff.”

Gresford are also heading in the same direction as Brymbo. They play Bangor at 11pm before a 4pm clash at Menai Bridge.

“With us struggling in the league, these cup games have given us a break and we hope to come back stronger in the second half of the season,” said Gresford skipper Matt Thompson.

“There’s a few of us going to Old Trafford tonight so we’ve got a bit of travelling but not as much as Brymbo!”

Gwersyllt Park have home advantage in their round-robin matches with Denbigh (11am) and Llandudno (5pm) and Northop, who are fourth in the table, host games with St Asaph and Premier Division front-runners Mochdre.

Northop Seconds are riding high at the top of Division One and a win at Buckley could extend their 22-point lead at the top of the table.

Hawarden Park make the trip to Brymbo Seconds while Mold host bottom-of-the-table Halkyn.

Connah’s Quay have home advantage over Conwy, Pontblyddyn go to Dolgellau and Bethesda, in second place, visit Abergele.

The key clash in Division Two is at fourth-placed Llay Welfare where Bangor Seconds, who are in second spot, make the trip.

Leaders Marchwiel and Wrexham, who are 28 points clear at the top, visit Pontblyddyn Seconds.

Other fixtures: Gresford 2nds v Corwen; Llanrwst v Menai Bridge 2nds; Mochdre 2nds v Carmel & District; St Asaph 2nds v Bersham.

Division Three leaders Ruthin hope neighbours Denbigh Seconds will do them a favour by beating second-placed Hawarden Park at Moor Lane.

Ruthin, who lost to Hawarden a week ago, are 10 points clear at the top and host Gwersyllt Park Seconds tomorrow.

Other fixtures: Bethesda 2nds v Connah’s Quay 2nds; Conwy 2nds v Buckley 2nds; Halkyn 2nds v Caernarfon; Pwllheli v Mold 2nds.
