WREXHAM'S Carabao Cup first round tie away to Sheffield United will take place on Tuesday August 13 with live coverage available on Sky Sports Football.

The clash with the Blades - back in the Championship following last season's relegation from the Premier League - at Bramall Lane kicks-off at 8pm and is one of two first round fixtures chosen for main broadcast, with all other games to be shown live on the new Sky Sports+ channel.

The teams went head-to-head in two pulsating FA Cup ties during the 2022-23 campaign.

Wrexham came from behind to lead 3-2 in the fourth round match at The Racecourse but United equalised in added time to force a replay.

The Reds gave as good as they got in south Yorkshire where Paul Mullin (pictured) netted from the spot but the Blades scored two late goals to secure a 3-1 victory and progress to round five.

With next month's game against United being shown on television, it means Wrexham's opening three fixtures of the season have been selected for live coverage.

Back in League One following a 19-year absence after winning a second promotion in a row for the first time in the club's history, Wrexham kick-off the campaign against Wycombe Wanderers at The Racecourse on Saturday August 10.

The EFL have confirmed that kick-off will be 5.30pm because all EFL fixtures on the opening weekend will be broadcast at that time on Sky Sports+.

Wrexham are then on television against Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup three days later, and the Reds' first away game of the season in the third tier later that week has also been chosen for live coverage.

The clash with Bolton at The Toughsheet Community Stadium will now take place on Sunday August 18 and kick off at 3pm, with live coverage on Sky Sports Football.

Phil Parkinson's side are back on the small screen the following month.

The League One game against Birmingham City at St Andrews has been switched to Monday September 16 with an 8pm kick off, and is also live on Sky Sports Football.
