WHAT a difference a year makes.

Last season, Cornwall stunned North Wales Crusaders to claim a 40-38 triumph in League One.

However, Crusaders recovered from a 10-point deficit away from home on Sunday to secure a 16-10 triumph, which makes it three league wins in a row.

Head coach Carl Forster (pictured) told Cru TV: “Cornwall last year, we folded. Don’t get me wrong, I think last year we probably looked a bit better with the ball and we were scoring 38 points.

“But we were conceding 40 and 42. So, defence wins games, as they say, and I think, obviously, that sums it up today and at the back end, they had three or four sets on our try-line and I think it was about five or six times where they doubled up sets on our try-line.

“We stood firm. I think we conceded one off the kick and we highlighted that in the week, which is... partly frustrating and then, obviously, they put a big man on a small man on their second try.

“But we stuck at the task, We do what we needed to do and, like I said, defence wins games and walking away from, obviously, last week’s game and this week’s game, I think we can be really proud of our efforts in D (defence).”
