TALENTED midfielder Josh Williams has departed Connah’s Quay Nomads to sign a two-year-deal with League Two Tranmere Rovers.

Williams, 19, progressed through the age ranks through to Connah’s Quay’s first team and his goal saw Nomads defeat The New Saints 2-1 in last season’s Welsh Cup final.

He has signed a two-year contract at Prenton Park and Williams adds another option in the middle of the park for Tranmere following the acquisition of Sam Finley.

Williams made 69 senior appearances for Nomads and he also represented Wales C during his time with the club.

Manager Nigel Adkins told Rovers’ website: “Josh joins us having impressed in the Welsh League.

“This will be a big step up into full-time football for the midfield player however we believe he has the potential to keep improving over time.”

Williams added: “I’m buzzing, I can’t wait to get going. I met the manager last week, and after that my mind was made up, I just couldn’t wait to sign.

“I’ve got family and friends who are Tranmere fans so for it to be Tranmere, it’s a massive opportunity and a massive club.”
