NORTH WALES CRUSADERS registered a third League 1 win in a row to boost their chances of securing a place in the end of season play-offs.

Carl Forster’s side had to work hard to beat strugglers Cornwall 16-10 at the Memorial Ground and remain in sixth place.

Having overcome Newcastle Thunder and Workington before getting the better of Cornwall, Crusaders are starting to find some form at an important stage of the campaign.

But they had to come from behind to beat Cornwall who took a seventh minute lead when Cam Brown scored in the corner.

It got even better for the home side who got another try and this time kicked the conversion to move 10-0 ahead.

Crusaders got on the scoresheet just before the break when Olly Davies finished off a move and with the conversion missed, the visitors were 10-4 down at half-time.

The second half was only two minutes old when Patrick Ah Van touched down and with the conversion missed, Cru were now only 10-8 behind.

Cru went 14-10 ahead as Chris Barratt crashed over and Patrick Ah Van added the extras.

The final score of game came nine minutes from time after Cru were awarded a penalty for a high tackle, they opted to go for goal and Ah Van was successful to complete another victory.

Oldham and Keighley Cougars remain neck and neck on 22 points each at the top of the table.

Oldham lead the way on points difference after beating Hunslet 30-6 at home.

Cougars triumphed 37-18 at Workington Town while Midland Hurricanes remain a place above Crusaders after a 44-10 victory at bottom-of-the-table Newcastle Thunder.

All 12 Super League clubs, meanwhile, will join a revamped Betfred Challenge Cup at the third-round stage next season in a major shake-up to the competition’s established format.
