BRYMBO are on the march once again in the Welsh Cup.

Dan Parry’s side, semi-finalists last season, are into the last-eight of this year’s national competition on the back of a seven-wicket success at Gwersyllt Park.

Park skipper Iroshan De Silva won the toss and he opted to bat first.

Opener De Silva (52), Lewis Cole (39) and Jake James (29) helped Park to a competitive 185 all out.

Mohamed Nilam Jayman (pictured) grabbed a superb 4-24, well supported by Parry (2-34) and Richard Deniz (2-43).

Brymbo timed their chase well to reach a winning 189 for three with more than three overs to spare.

Chris Taylor (48 not out), Jayman (34), Jason Underwood (33 not out) and Joss Roberts (32) were the main contributors, while Cole, Daniel Jones and De Silva picked up a wicket apiece for Gwersyllt, who will be disappointed to have shipped 35 extras, including 22 wides.

Llandudno are North Wales’ other representatives in the quarter-finals after they stunned North Wales League Premier Division leaders Mochdre in a three-wicket outcome.

Clubs from South Wales still in the competition are Ammanford, Pontarddulais, Neath, St Fagans and Newport, while Radyr meet Pentyrch on Sunday.
