WHILE Rob Massam marked his North Wales Crusaders return with a hat-trick of tries, head coach Carl Forster said he was unlucky not to grab a fourth score.

Massam was a key figure as the Crusaders made it back-to-back triumphs with their comfortable 42-4 success at Newcastle Thunder.

Forster told the club’s YouTube channel: “It probably should have been four!

“I think he was harshly done with the double movement, but we know what Rob’s about and that’s why we brought him back in.

“He scores tries for fun and he just gets us on the front foot. Obviously, Pat (Rainford) has not been in today but I think Pat and Jack (Holmes) has done a real good job starting our sets off and that’s Rob’s biggest attribute as well.

“So, Rob’s come back in, obviously his missus is due any time now, so the Cornwall trip looks probably unlikely for Rob with the overnight stay and the full weekend.

“So, obviously family first, but we’ll obviously take it by the ear and hopefully all things go well this week with him and his partner.”

Crusaders are sixth in the League One rankings, level on points with fifth-placed Midlands Hurricanes as the race for the play-offs develops.
