WELSH wizard Seren Smale is targeting more of the same as Lancashire Thunder aim for Finals Day in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

Thunder have three games remaining in the group stage of the regional T20 competition and they sit four points behind fourth-placed Central Sparks, who currently hold the final qualifying position.

Smale, from Wrexham, and co play twice in as many days later this week, starting with today’s clash against Western Storm in Cardiff.

Smale goes into the matches in confident mood having hit an unbeaten 39 to help Thunder secure a five-wicket win against Sunrisers at Blackpool on Sunday in the last outing.

The 19-year-old hit 39 not out off 33 balls from number four, top-scoring in a successful pursuit of 152.

It was the England A star’s best score of the T20 campaign following a difficult four-game run of single-figures scores, one which she is hoping has been put behind her.

“I was feeling in touch, but I’ve had a few ropey games where I’ve gone away from how I’ve played,” she said. “I think it showed the way I play in any format is okay.

“I just need to stick to my strengths and that will get me as far as it will get me.

“If we can take the momentum (from Sunrisers), we’ve got every chance.

“And we all love a little road trip, so we’ll just have to make it two from two.”
