DAN PARRY is anticipating a warm welcome at Gresford on Sunday - but not a red-hot one!
It’s a derby double-header weekend as Brymbo head to Gresford in the Welsh Cup, 24 hours after they host their local rivals in the North Wales Cricket League.
While there’s a competitive derby element to meetings, Brymbo skipper Parry (pictured) said: “Both teams want to win, of course, but that’s where it stops.
“It’s not Galatasarary-Fenerbahçe. We’re not going to be having ‘Welcome to Hell’ banners!”
Gareth Partridge will be looking to maintain his stunning form with the bat tomorrow after achieving a major milestone with Chirk.
Partridge, who will line-up at Newtown, passed 5,000 runs for the club during his brilliant 151 not out from 97 deliveries in last week’s eight-wicket win over Ellesmere.
“Getting to 5,000 runs is another monumental achievement,” said Chirk captain Luke Gardner.
It’s also a big day in the T20 World Cup.
England, whose opening match with Scotland was abandoned on Tuesday, will take on Australia at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown.
