NORTHOP’S run in this season’s Welsh Cup came to an end via a 52-run loss at St Asaph.
More than 550 runs were witnessed on the day, with the Saints cracking 304 for seven from their 40 overs.
Duncan Midgley (82), Will Ryan (77) and Nathanael Scott (65) were the chief scorers, with Joe Griffiths (3-65), Bart Ryan-Beswick (2-39) and Matt Mullarkey (2-39) amongst the wickets for Northop.
Pete Pienaar’s sparkling 101 spear-headed Northop’s reply, which ended on 252 in the final over. Robbie Prior claimed three for 59.
Sam Northeast hit an unbeaten 61 to help Glamorgan claim their first victory of the Vitality Blast with a 25-run win over Sussex.
Tymal Mills (four for 33) helped to restrict Glamorgan to 183 for seven from their 20 overs, but a solid bowling display saw the home side defend the target successfully.
James Coles top-scored with a career-best 69 not out but Sussex’s batting line-up failed to support him in Cardiff and they finished on 158 for six.
