IT is usually a tricky prospect having to chase 200 batting second to achieve victory.
Not so for in-form Chirk, who got their skates on to achieve an eight-wicket win over Ellesmere in Shropshire League action.
A competitive 199 for nine came from Ellesmere’s 45 overs, spear-headed by Tom Davies’ knock of 92. Liam Walker finished with three for 50 for Chirk, while there were two wickets apiece from Andrew Swarbrick and skipper Luke Gardner.
Chirk responded with 200 for two inside 30 overs, as Gareth Partridge struck a brilliant 151 not out from 97 deliveries.
Chirk Seconds remain unbeaten after they beat Guilsfield Seconds by 43 runs. Connor Dyke (90 not out) was in impressive form.
Northop Hall’s bowlers were in terrific form in the Liverpool Competition. In Division Two, hosts Whitefield (Roby) were dismissed for 81. Nathan Roett (5-34) and Nawid Mohammad Kabir (4-5) impressed for Hall, who then responded with 85 for five (Ben Slater 29 not out).
Matthew Edwards claimed 6-9 as Northop Hall Seconds beat Prestatyn Seconds by nine wickets.
