WREXHAM athletes have travelled far for some competition.
Thomas Walley, of Wrexham AAC, has been out in Brussels, Belgium, competing at the IFAM track and field meeting.
He claimed 11th spot in the pole vault with his effort of 4.82-metres.
Over in America, clubmate Amber Simpson competed in the NCAA regional meeting, at Fayetteville, North Carolina.
An attempt of 66.14-metres saw her fifth in the senior women’s hammer.
Lucy Jones made her mark in the U17 and U20 youth development league event at Wavertree.
She clocked 42.4 for third place in the 300-metres and was a part of the North Wales team that came home second in the 4x300m relay.
In addition, she achieved a personal best of 5.10-metres for the long jump.
An awesome foursome from Wrexham AAC took part in the Trafford AC open meeting.
Liam McGivern won the senior men’s 400m in 50.32, while there was also victory for Spencer Jones in the U13 boys’ javelin (25.99m).
Oliver Edwards achieved a season’s best of 52.34 in the senior men’s 400m and the highlight of a busy day in the U15 girls’ class for Annabelle Jones was her triumph in the discus (25.99m).
She was also second in the javelin (27.26m) and third in the shot put (7.96m).
Turning to the Stratford speed meeting and Ewan Williams achieved a wind-assisted 11.00 in the 100-metres.
His other attempt at the distance was 11.24, while he clocked 23.47 for the 200-metres.
Two of the top-three finishers at the Newtown 10k were Wrexham AAC racers.
In triumphant form was Connor Rogers with a time of 32.29 and James Roberts was third in 34.47.
They were followed by Amanda Bailey (74th in 43.14) and Mark Hughes (226th in 50.29).
Meanwhile, at the Mynydd Myfyr hill race, Charles Ashley was 44th in 38.44, with Alison Whitelaw achieving 44.22 for 58th.
Parkruns once more proved to be popular ventures for Wrexham athletes.
Glyn Wise (21.31) crossed the line as runner-up at the Trelai event, in Cardiff and Connor Rogers stormed to victory at Macclesfield in a time of 16.53.
He was followed by clubmate Mark Hughes, who was 69th in 25.57.
Over at Dolgellau, Macsen Walker (22.21) and Luke Walker (22.27) were 10th and 11th respectively, with Mike Robbins (24.37) claiming 12th place at Wepre.
Macey Quick (28.29) crossed the line 78th at Prestatyn and Charles Ashley (57th in 27.55) was the leading Wrexham racer at Llangollen.
He was followed by Jennifer Moss (93rd in 30.49) and Rachel Nickerson-Reeves (130th in 49.49).
Leading the Wrexham charge at Erddig was Gwyn Roberts, who clocked 22.28 for fifth position.
In 10th place was Tony Forster (22.56), ahead of Rory Dixon (70th in 28.12), Karl Moore (82nd in 28.59), Phil Walker (101st in 30.58) and Tomos Marriott (110th 31.31).
Saturday will witness the Abersoch 10k (10.30am), with Macclesfield hosting a Cheshire track and field league meeting on Sunday (11.45am).
There are two events to tempt athletes next Wednesday.
The Llanrug 5k will also be the North Wales 5k championships.
On the same night, Maeshafn plays host to The Beast fell race.
