FLINT MOUNTAIN manager Aden Shannon has described tonight’s Ardal League North Cup final as ‘a bonus’ as his side’s aim to complete a treble.
Flint - the Ardal North West League champions - face Holyhead Hotspur at Bala Town tonight and they’re aiming to complete a stupendous season by adding another trophy to their bulging cabinet.
“To do a double is good but not many teams produce a treble so it would be a big achievement for the club to go and do that,” said Shannon, whose side have also lifted the North East Wales FA Cup.
“I’m so proud of the team and Thursday’s final is a bit of a bonus really having wrapped up the league title.
“But we were bit and backside at one stage this season and really it was that win at Llay that’s proved the difference as they finished just two points behind us.”
Flint floored the Hotspurs 4-1 at home in the league earlier this season but lost on Anglesey just four weeks ago with Holyhead boss Darren Garmey calling on his players to reproduce that form.
“They’ve got a great squad with a lot of good players and we know what they’re capable off,” Garmey told Cymru Sport.
“But it’s a final and these lads fear nobody.”
Mike Hayes, who finished in second place in the league goalscoring charts, will look to add to his 23-goal tally while Holyhead’s top scorer Dylan Summers-Jones heads into the final having picked up the manager’s player of the season award.
