THINGS are getting better all the time for Chirk as their Shropshire League season continues.

It’s now two matches without defeat for Luke Gardner’s side ahead of tomorrow’s Division One away day versus Ellesmere.

In last week’s winning draw versus Cound, Gareth Partridge (83) and Liam Walker (71) put on a stand of 109 as Chirk made it beyond 200 for the first time this season.

“The way Gareth Partridge (pictured) and Liam Walker batted was reading the occasion and playing the bad ball,” said skipper Gardner. “The missing piece of the puzzle was batting.

“In the last two weeks, we’re getting back to where we want to be.

“There’s been so many good partnerships that progressed.

“Just bowling on it as well, there was definitely a sense that 200 was a really good score.

“A few balls did quite a bit on Saturday. My figures were the most economical I’ve bowled!”

Gardner finished with two for 24 from 14 overs, while there were three wickets apiece for Oliver Gough and Liam Walker.

Cound hung on for a draw and Chirk, who are now eighth, will look for another positive outcome as they come up against 10th-placed Ellesmere.

The match will be played at Whittington, with Nick Flack and Andrew Swarbrick both returning to the Chirk line-up.

It’s been a really positive start to the Division Seven campaign for Chirk seconds and they will be defending their unbeaten record at home to Guilsfield seconds tomorrow.

Northop Hall are looking towards a return to Liverpool Competition action following a frustrating spell.

Last week’s Division Two derby with Prestatyn was cancelled and Hall will be hoping the weather is fine for tomorrow’s trip to Whitefield (Roby).

It’s the turn of Northop Hall seconds for a derby clash as they are scheduled to be at home to Prestatyn seconds.
