THERE are three reasons for Aston Park Rangers U15s to be cheerful following a memorable campaign.
Rangers completed a terrific treble as a 3-1 triumph versus Mold Alex made sure of the Flintshire Junior League crown.
A point would have moved Mold on the verge of claiming the title, however Lennon Young (2) and Mason Jones made sure it was a victorious venture for the home side. Jack Hughes was on the scoresheet for Mold.
Rangers and Mold finished tied on 53 points at the top after they each won 17 of their 20 matches in the league.
However Rangers would eventually take the top honour on goal difference.
Aston Park grabbed 132 goals during their title-winning campaign and they only conceded 26.
Their only defeat this season came at home to Rhydymwyn back in September, while they subsequently played out draws with Mold and Connah’s Quay Town.
Young finished as the division’s golden boot winner with 53 goals and he found the target 75 times in all competitions, as Aston Park also won the League Cup and North East Wales FA Cup.
Mold still had an outside chance of winning the title on Saturday, but they would have required a 13-goal margin of victory from their trip to sixth-placed Rhosddu United.
Alex did gain the victory, but they had to be satisfied with a 6-2 margin.
Harri Griffiths (3), Lewis Fleming, Euan Preece and Gus Jarvis-Macgregor netted for Mold, with Harry Ankers and Rudi Suckley responding for Rhosddu, who beat AFC Flint 8-2 in midweek. Ankers (4), Suckley (3) and James Ganci sealed the deal, as Gethin Moorehead netted twice for Flint.
It was all about the away wins as the U14s’ division season neared its conclusion.
Champions Mold Alex Pumas finished the campaign six points clear courtesy of their 9-1 success over battling Saltney Town.
Morgan Connah (4), Alfie Campbell (3), Taidhg Wiegand and Hayden Millington shared the goals for the league winners, with Jaiman Lamani replying.
Efforts from Sam Phoenix (2) and Blake Wilkinson ensured Mold Alex Panthers defeated Broughton United 3-0 and there was a 5-2 triumph for Mynydd Isa versus Aston Park Rangers.
Daniel Jones (3), Elis Percival and Finley Bowyer ensured Isa won it, as Mason Catton and Kieron Gadsby kept Rangers interested.
