WREXHAM and Connah’s Quay Nomads were both celebrating on FAW Academy Finals Day at the Cardiff International Stadium.
The young Reds beat Pontypridd United 2-0 in the U14s battle between the north and south’s top teams.
But it was Nomads U15s who took centre stage in a thrilling penalty shoot-out success against Pontardawe Town.
The end-to-end tie finished 3-3 before Nomads, who were 3-0 down at one stage, held their nerve to win the shoot-out 7-6.
Lucas Piffer Chao (pictured below) stepped up to score the winning penalty after Miller Smith had tucked a dramatic stoppage-time leveller.
Caernarfon Town won the U12s final, beating Briton Ferry Llansawel 3-2, but their U16s side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Penybont.
Making sure the north pipped the south, The New Saints were the U13s champions after a 3-1 success over Pontardawe, Daniel Thelwell bagging two of the goals.
Nomads ended the season third in the Cymru Premier Development North League after a 4-1 win at Aberystwyth Town.
Holywell Town sealed the Flintshire Youth League’s Division Two title in style with a 5-0 win at Borras Park Rangers.
Jack Baines-Hughes, George Jones, Luka Graham, Joe Digby and Keelan Roberts got the goals.
