IT’S been a promising start to the Division One season for Mold and Connah’s Quay.
The pair are third and fourth respectively ahead of tomorrow’s clash at Mold and the winners could find themselves in the promotion spots at the close of play.
Quay skipper Darren Leach said: “We’re expecting a tough competition.
“They will be favourites and they’ve just come down from the Premier Division.”
Josh Clarke will come into the Connah’s Quay line-up tomorrow, while Mold will welcome back Aled Proffitt, George Godwin, Keith Embleton and Daniel Drew.
“George and Aled have both been key in our first couple of wins so it’ll be great to have them both back for a big game against the Quay,” said Mold captain Isaac Allen.
Buckley have got two lengthy trips out of the way already and they’re looking forward to a first home game of the season this weekend.
It’s Hawarden Park at home for Buckley tomorrow, who have opened the season with trips to Dolgellau, Bethesda and Mold.
“Last year, I can’t explain how we stayed up versus Menai Bridge,” said Buckley skipper Lee Taylor.
“We have recruited well and brought five or six players in.”
There’s plenty who have played for both Buckley and Hawarden Park, with Taylor adding: “It’s a friendly game, but a rivalry.”
Second-placed Northop Seconds have home advantage versus Halkyn, while Pontblyddyn entertain Brymbo Seconds.
Other fixtures: Bethesda v Conwy; Dolgellau v Abergele.
