HARRY WILSON is still talked about at a Llangollen school - and a current student is hoping to emulate his achievements.
Welsh international Wilson is a former student at Ysgol Dinas Bran and current student Luis Gardner is embarking on his own footballing journey as a midfielder with Wales under-17s.
Gardner, who is with Everton, told BBC Sport Wales: “He always gets mentioned by all the teachers.
“All the teachers say to me that they want me to end up like him. So, let’s see what happens.”
Gardner has also been speaking about meeting up with Wales senior team boss Rob Page.
“I think it gives people an insight into what it’s really like,” said Gardner. “He was speaking to us about what he wants to achieve with Wales and that was obviously to get to the Euros, but also things like the coaching side of it.
“He was speaking about that and what challenges he’s been through, and I think that really helped people understand what his journey’s been like.”
Gardner was a part of the Wales team that was beaten 2-0 by Denmark in their opening game of the European Under-17 finals in Cyprus.
