ONE goal was all it took to win the North East Wales FA Girls’ U13s Cup final.
And it was Brickfield Rangers’ Erin Brown who grabbed the winner in a hard-fought victory over Wrexham rivals Brymbo Lodge in one of 13 finals to place at Ruthin Town’s Memorial Playing Fields over the weekend.
Airbus lifted the U15s Cup after Mollie Edge, Niamh Makin and Ruby Ashford netted in a 3-1 win against Buckley Town, for whom Bethan Higgins replied.
Brickfield Rangers defeated Henllan 2-1 in the final of the North Wales Girls League U17s’ Cup.
Bogomila Stoycheva netted twice for Brickfield, after Mali Roberts had given Henllan an early lead.
It’s a fierce battle to claim this season’s North East Wales Girls’ League U15s’ division title.
Well in the mix are Northop Hall Jets U14s and Buckley Town U14s.
Hall are top following a profitable week which saw them gain an 8-2 verdict over Brymbo Lodge and a 3-1 triumph over Brickfield Rangers.
Lily Manchester (3), Ruby Lovell (2), Juliet Grace Collis (3), Hayley-Jo Vel (2) and Lily Davies netted for the Jets, with Keira Thomas on target for Brickfield and Nicole Szczawinska and Charlotte Olley-Madriaga scoring for Lodge.
Favourites for the title are second-placed Buckley, who are three points adrift of the leaders with two games in hand.
Summer Dakin slotted in five goals in a double-figure win over Mynydd Isa.
Evie Hughes, Kimberley Altmann, Sophie Upton, Lexi Jones and Lola Hughes-Jones netted the others.
And Buckley boosted their chances with a 3-0 Monday night victory over their U15s’ club-mates.
Dakin netted again along with Jones and Darra Craig.
Acton U14s strengthened their hopes of a top-four finish via a double-figure success over Northop Hall Falcons U14s and a 4-1 win at Broughton United.
Lexi Weaver (2), Maisie Smith and Millie Williams were on target in the latter win, with Weaver, Williams, Lexi Jones, Chloe Ridley, Casey Armstrong, Maisie Sutcliffe and Leonie Bate on the mark against Falcons, who hit back through Macy Jones. Maisie Guy was on the scoresheet for Broughton.
The Falcons were defeated 3-1 at Brymbo Lodge, who made sure of the points via Nicole Szczawinska (2) and Lexie Moore.
