JOSH WILLIAMS’ terrific season has been acknowledged with a major award nomination.
Williams, who grabbed a stunning Connah’s Quay Nomads winner in last month’s 2-1 Welsh Cup final victory over The New Saints, is one of a trio short-listed for the Cymru Premier League’s young player of the season award.
It’s been quite the season for Williams, who has been a mainstay of Nomads’ runners-up finish in the league and he popped up with important goals and assists.
He is up against Lee Jenkins (Haverfordwest County) and Brad Young (The New Saints) for the award.
Young, who scored 22 goals for the title-winning Saints over the course of the campaign, is also nominated for the player of the season gong alongside team-mate Danny Redmond and Caernarfon’s Sion Bradley.
While he led Connah’s Quay in successful fashion, Neil Gibson has been overlooked for the manager of the season prize.
The short-list consists of Bala Town’s Colin Caton, Caernarfon’s Richard Davies and The New Saints’ chief Craig Harrison.
It was a Penybont double in the April awards categories, with Rhys Griffiths taking the top boss nod and Chris Venables winning player of the month.
Penybont will be aiming to make it a successful end to the season as they head to Caernarfon on Saturday in the play-off final.
