EXPERIENCED campaigner Kevin Roberts has agreed to remain with Chester.
Roberts, the versatile 34-year-old, has penned a one-year deal to extend his stay at the Deva Stadium into a sixth season.
With 168 appearances for the Blues since his return from Wrexham in 2019, Roberts now requires just three more to pass Anthony Dudley and move into second on the all-time list of appearances.
Boss Calum McIntyre told the club’s website: “Kevin is an important part of the group and I’m pleased he is part of what we are doing next season.
“He plays a big part on and off the pitch and his experience has been key around the place in the last two seasons. He will be used more in the defensive unit next term as we reshape our midfield for the season ahead.
“We want to make sure that we have a team full of all the on pitch attributes that we demand; but with the right blend of experienced players, younger players but all with real character and personality.”
Roberts started his career with Chester City and played for the side over 100 times, so he could be set to for a combined 300 appearances for the sides during the forthcoming National League North season.
He will also continue with his physiotherapy role with both the first team and Academy next season.
