CONNAH’S QUAY NOMADS’ grip on the North East Wales FA Women’s Cup remains an iron one.
For the third season in a row, Jordan Parry’s side have lifted the cup and their latest success was confirmed by a 5-0 final triumph over Airbus at Ruthin.
What a goal it was to set Connah’s Quay Nomads on their way.
Evie Chard scored her first goal from the side - and she struck it from the halfway line.
Nomads defeated Airbus in last season’s showpiece and they were well on their way to repeating the trick two minutes later when Kylie Jones netted from the penalty spot.
Then, in first half stoppage time, Connah’s Quay had their third goal as Phoebe Ellis’ corner was fired into the bottom corner of the net by Elana Harley.
Nomads enjoyed the bulk of the possession during the second half and they stretched their lead eight minutes from the end through Anais Bathily.
The scoring was completed in the 87th minute when Alisha Whitehead-Hughes headed home from Polly Wild-McGregor’s cross.
This completed a fine season for Nomads, who also finished up as runners-up in Adran North.
Meanwhile, Quay’s talented youngsters claimed the Adran U19s’ League title.
North East Wales League champions Flint Town United won’t have a double to celebrate this season after they lost out in the semi-finals of the Betty Pickering Cup.
Seven days after Pwllheli beat Flint 3-2 in the North Wales League play-off final, the Gwynedd side were at it again with a 3-1 success in the cup. Zoe Stopford was on target for Flint.
In the other semi-final, Llangefni defeated Amlwch 7-4.
