ALL Llay Welfare need is to win tomorrow to keep their Cymru North promotion hopes alive.

Runners-up spot in the Ardal North West League will be secured if they beat Llannefydd at home.

The club has had it’s tier two licence refused but that could change as talks with the Football Association of Wales continue.

Llay have suffered back-to-back defeats - including a 5-1 hammering in front of a 464 attendance against champions-elect Flint Mountain.

“Last week wasn’t the greatest of weeks for the club suffering back to back defeats, but I’m sure we’ll get over the line,” said Llay manager Mike Gadie.

“It was amazing to see such a crowd at The Ring last week. Hopefully we can get close to them numbers again this weekend.

“Llannefydd are a good side and we know their dangers. The Jones brothers (Sam and Tom) are top players so we will have to respect them.

“But if we can get back to work rate and attitude of a couple of weeks ago, we won’t be far away.”

Saltney Town, who drew 1-1 with Conwy Borough on Wednesday, sign off their time in the Ardal League with St Asaph City their visitors.

Rowan Burdsall bagged Saltney’s goal while Noah Sumner netted a stoppage-time winner as Brickfield Rangers beat Hawarden Rangers 2-1.

Brickfield go to Llanrwst United, who lost 2-1 to Llangefni Town in midweek, on Sunday afternoon.

Cefn Albion grabbed the bragging rights in the North East League after winning 2-0 at neighbours Rhos Aelwyd on Wednesday.

Conner Kendrick scored and set up Nick Jones’ goal for Cefn, who host play-off chasers Llanuwchllyn tomorrow.

“Llanuwchllyn will also be a tough test,” said Cefn coach Ian Andrews.

“They are having a great season and will be looking to finish in the top two for a play off spot.”

Bow Street, who beat Builth Wells 3-1 on Wednesday, are also competing for the runners-up spot and they host Llanrhaeadr, who suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Llangollen Town for whom Ben Wilson and an own goal secured them the three points.

Builth Wells host Dolgellau while Llanfair United complete their campaign at Llandrindod Wells.

The Premier Division title race in the North East Wales League looked all over a month ago.

Corwen had won all their league games heading into April but two defeats and two draws in their last five games has seen their lead slashed to just two points.

With two of their five games against title-rivals Penyffordd Lions, a win at home to Lex XI this evening would settle the nerves.

Second-placed Connah’s Quay Town are still in with a shout and they’ll be looking to bounce back from last week’s Premier Cup final defeat when they head to Coedpoeth United tomorrow.

The hosts need a win to stay up and if they do that Castell Alun will finish in the bottom two with Ruabon Rovers.

The Championship draws to a close this weekend.

Aston Park Rangers go to Rhydymwyn tonight while league runners-up Gronant host Yr Wyddgrug tomorrow.

Connah’s Quay Nomads will be crowned champions if they beat Denbigh Town at home in the final FAW Reserves North game of the season.

Nomads moved closer to the title after a 3-2 midweek win over Holywell Town where Tyler Berry (2) and Jayden Tang got the goals.

Isaac Adams-Goundrey and Ben Pearce hit back for Holywell.

Airbus host a Porthmadog side they thrashed 5-0 on Tuesday. Morgan Fricker (2), Archibald Floate, Charlie Urquhart and Tom Docherty got the goals.

Mold Alex, 2-1 winners over Buckley Town in midweek, host Llandudno while bottom club Buckley will aim to bounce back at home to Chirk AAA.

There’s one game tonight with Gresford Athletic making the trip to Holywell.

Tier 3 League champions Nantlle Vale, who have won 17 of the 21 games, end their season at home to St Asaph City.

Hawarden Rangers host Llangollen Town, who were hammered 5-0 by St Asaph in midweek, and Rhos Aelwyd go to Llanrwst United.

Llay Welfare enjoyed a 5-2 midweek win over Llanrwst United, Kian Turton (2), Chris Owens, Jared Taylor and Dan Lloyd on target.
