WREXHAM SCHOOLBOYS U11s team have been crowned national champions.
Following the success of winning the North Wales Competition, Wrexham celebrated more glory at the Tom Yeoman Final Festival at Ocean Park in Cardiff.
Wrexham beat the much-fancied Caerphilly SFA 2-0 in the final thanks to goals from Noah Hignett and Xavi Szczawinski.
In the earlier games aggregate scores were 2-0 against Rhondda Cynon Taf as Finn Williams grabbed both.
Cardiff were beaten 3-1 with goals from Williams, Hignett and Miller Powell.
A last-gasp equaliser by Powell against Denbighshire saw the squad progress through to the knockout stages after other goals from Williams again and Louis Davies.
A 9-2 aggregate victory against Carmarthen SFA, who had dispatched Flintshire PSFA, completed a fine semi-final performance.
Goals came from Williams, Hignett, Powell, Cohen Ashton (2) and Preston Gray with a hat-trick.
Of note were the performances of the four goalkeepers used in the festival - Jac Davies, Kia Latham, Olly Edwards and Max Mouchun, who are pictured below.
“Great credit to the coaches Az Davies, Si Williams and Si Spender, the players and the fully committed support from parents and families culminated in a very memorable season,” said Schools organiser Terry Walker.
Wrexham U11s Girls also had a fantastic day at their finals festival and they ended up as runners-up.
Wrexham U12s lost out in the semi-finals while Wrexham Girls U13s’ squad hosted Carmarthen Schools in the semi-final beating them 3-2.
The team, coached by Craig Salisbury, now progress to the WSFA association finals on May 18 at TNS.
Wrexham U15s, unbeaten for the past two seasons in the northern section, lost narrowly to arch rivals and hosts Flintshire in their semi- finals encounter.
Meanwhile Kai Crofts (Rhosnesni) and goalkeeper Jack Fisher (Clywedog) represented Wales SFA U14s’ side in a 2-1 defeat to England Independent Schools.
