MIKE CUNNINGHAM is anticipating a tough battle as his tenure as Mold Alex manager ends this weekend.
Cunningham, who has been at the helm for eight years, will step down after the North East Wales FA Cup final with Flint Mountain, which will be played at Ruthin Town’s Memorial Park Fields ground on Friday night.
Mold are targeting their third piece of silverware this season, having already lifted the Cymru North Cup and the all-Wales Cymru Cup, while they ended the campaign in the top-four in Cymru North.
Despite this, Cunningham is taking nothing for granted ahead of the showdown with the Ardal North West League leaders and he told the club’s Facebook page: “They’re a very good side.
“A side that’s full of Welsh Prem experience and, you know, they’re obviously chasing the league as well at tier three and they’re a tier two side in making and probably comfortably finish top end of it in tier two.
“So, it’s going to be difficult. It’s a cup final, we know that.
“We’ve got to try and use our experience and it’s nice, in a way, to know an end date. I can prepare myself a little bit better for that, but the show goes on.”
Friday’s tie is one of 13 NEWFA showpiece finals over the weekend at Ruthin.
