STEVEN FLETCHER has enjoyed an illustrious career but he described the bond in the Wrexham changing room as one of the best he has been part of.
The experienced striker arrived at The Racecourse in September and helped the Reds finish runners-up in League Two, securing a second promotion in a row for the first time in the club's history.
Wrexham have enjoyed a fantastic season and former Scotland international Fletcher played his part by weighing in with eight goals, including a hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Barrow on New Year's Day.
Fletcher has played in the top flights of England, Scotland and France, turning out for Hibernian, Burnley, Wolves, Sunderland, Marseille, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke and Dundee United, but the 37-year-old has made friends for life at Wrexham and has thoroughly enjoyed his time in north Wales.
"I have really enjoyed this season, it has been fantastic," said Fletcher, who has been offered a new contract by Reds' boss Phil Parkinson.
"It has been great getting to play with the boys.
"It is an absolute great dressing room, one of the best I have been in.
"I know it is easy for me to say because of what we have done but on a personal level, the lads, the friendships and the bond I have made has been great.
"Honestly, you couldn't have asked for a better changing room to come into, especially at this stage of my career,
"A few of the lads will be mates for life."
Fletcher was a free agent when he was snapped up by Parkinson following his release by Dundee United at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Although he scored ten goals in 39 games, The Tangerines were relegated from the Scottish Premiership and the frontman says clinching promotion with Wrexham made up for that disappointment.
"It was a tough season for me last season," added Fletcher.
"I wanted to put that behind me and move on, and I have done that this season.
"It has been good and I have played my part.
"Getting promotion was the goal so we are delighted. It has been a great season.
"That's football for you, swings and roundabouts."
