STEVE DALE has reflected on the journey made by his Wrexham side over the past few seasons.
The Reds were hugely competitive in Sunday’s Welsh Women’s Cup final at Newport’s Rodney Parade, with Cardiff City sealing a domestic treble via a hard-fought 2-0 triumph.
Team boss Dale told S4C’s Sgorio: “We pinch ourselves regularly to realise how far we’ve come.
“I think we were lucky to get through that play-off final (against Briton Ferry Llansawel) all that time ago, but this season we’ve kicked on and we’ve proved quite a lot of people wrong and I’m really proud of the girls for their efforts all year.”
North East Wales League champions Flint Town United were pipped 3-2 by Pwllheli in their North Wales League play-off final.
Stacey Sansome and Jini Owen-Hughes had the Gwynedd side two-up, however Flint levelled things up though Ruby Hastings and Rosie Hughes.
Pwllheli struck the winner in extra time and in a post on X, Flint said: “Certainly a game we won’t forget, after a great comeback from the Silkwomen ending the 90 minutes 2-2, sadly we were defeated in extra time.
“Despite the loss, the ladies have had an outstanding season, we couldn’t be prouder.”
