WREXHAM are just two wins away from lifting more silverware.

In a repeat of last season’s Adran League play-off, the Reds again got the better of Briton Ferry Llansawel to book their place in the last-four of the Welsh Cup.

Second half strikes from Rosie Hughes and Libby Mackenzie sealed the deal for Steve Dale’s side.

Amber Lightfoot forced an early save from visiting keeper Courtney Young, while only a last ditch challenge denied Rosie Hughes a clear run through on goal.

Hughes, Mari Gibbard and Lightfoot all went close as Briton Ferry Llansawel defending somehow kept the ball out of the net.

But Wrexham couldn’t have wished for a better start to the second half.

Just two minutes after the restart, Gibbard supplied the assist and Hughes did the rest by firing into the bottom corner.

The visitors weren’t out of the contest just yet, though, and Lucy Powell’s free kick struck the crossbar.

Then, with 20 minutes remaining, the Reds doubled their advantage with substitute Mackenzie getting the goal.

League leaders Cardiff City progressed thanks to a 3-0 win at Pontypridd and Swansea City defeated Cascade 6-1.

The New Saints are also through as they beat Aberystwyth 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

North East Wales League leaders Flint Town United stretched their 100 per cent winning run with a 3-1 win over Berriew. Rosie Hughes (2) and Zoe Stopford found the target as Flint made it five wins out of five.

Northop Hall, who had Daisy Allen sent off, lost 4-0 at Llangefni Town in the Betty Pickering Cup.

In the Adran U19s’ North League, Wrexham defeated Connah’s Quay Nomads 4-1.

Ruby Jones, Natasha Spearing and Lily Whitefoot were among the scorers as Nomads were beaten for the first time this season. Ellie Hill grabbed a Quay consolation.
